About Us

The Hill Suburb Pastoral Area was formed in 2006 and combines the parishes of St Francis Xavier Mornington, St Mary's Kaikorai and St Joseph's Brockville.

Our parish priest is Fr Ciprian Fernandes who celebrates the masses at all three parishes. We have one pastoral council and one finance committee. We have a common weekly bulletin that is distributed at the weekend masses in all three parishes and is also available for download in the Parish Bulletins & Duty Rosters section.

All three parishes have vibrant local communities with St Mary's Kaikorai and St Francis Xavier Mornington also having a primary school on the same site as the churches and presbyterys. St Joseph's Brockville parish operates from the Little Sisters of the Poor Sacred Heart Home & Hospital.

St Francis Xavier parish was established in 1949, St Mary's Kaikorai one year later in 1950 and St Joseph's Brockville in 1979.

The Hill Suburbs Pastoral Area is part of the Dunedin Catholic Diocese and our bishop is the Most Reverend Colin David Campbell DD.
